US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Discrimination Complaint

If you believe your rights may have been violated, HUD encourages you to report housing discrimination. Because there are time limits on when an allegation can be filed with HUD after an alleged violation, you should report housing discrimination as soon as possible.

Civil Rights Department (State of California) Housing Discrimination Complaint

When someone files a discrimination complaint, CRD evaluates the facts and decides whether to accept the case for investigation. If it accepts the case, CRD independently investigates the facts and the legal issues.


Fair Housing Advocates of Northern California 

Fair Housing Advocates of Northern California (FHANC) provides free comprehensive fair housing counseling, complaint investigation, and assistance in filing housing discrimination complaints with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) or the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH).

If you are a tenant experiencing a serious legal issue with your landlord that threatens you with losing your housing such as an Unlawful Detainer, an eviction notice, or other serious problems, you can contact the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County to see if they can provide you legal assistance.
